PROVIDING TIME OUT FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN
NEED SINCE 1978
Benwerren’s COVID-19 Response
The health, safety and wellbeing of our families, volunteers and staff is of the highest importance at this time. For this reason Benwerren has put it’s Time Out and Holiday Programs on hold. We are using the property in other ways to support women and children while operating within the changing government restrictions. The office continues to be open for reduced hours to take your calls. If we are not there when you call, feel free to leave a message and we will ring you back.
As we all retreat to our homes, we encourage you to take time out, read a book, do a puzzle, reach out to a neighbour or a friend through the phone or a letter, or learn to knit!
If you or your children are feeling anxious or frightened during this uncertain time, here are some useful links that contain resources for talking with children and looking after your mental health:
We would encourage you to tune into radio station 89.9FM The Light for positive music and stories of hope.
Benwerren provides stays in a caring environment, with home cooked meals and peaceful surrounds.
Nestling amongst the beautiful hills of Yarra Junction, Benwerren is a lovely old rambling guest house. Complete with an open log fire and a picturesque setting on two acres of land with the Little Yarra River running by. It’s the ideal place for a truly relaxing holiday.
Isaiah 58:6 – 7 (GNB)
“The kind of fasting I want is this: remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.”
- We believe that every mother needs time out to rest, reflect and be restored physically, spiritually and emotionally.
- We believe connection, love and acceptance is paramount to mental, emotional and spiritual good health.
- We believe every person, man, woman and child, deserves to be treated with respect.
- We believe children need fun, laughter and good memories to grow into healthy individuals.
- We believe that God has a plan and purpose for every person.
“It’s not the house, it’s not the food, it’s not the countryside – but it’s the people.”
“Feels like coming home to Nana’s”
I loved the care and nurturing love and support I got. No judging, no criticism, no bossing me around.
At one of the most difficult times in my life, staying at Benwerren has given me the courage to continue on, and the encouragement to feel more positive about our future.
“Our experience of Benwerren was life changing, my little girl is a non-verbal autistic who struggled with the everyday life of people, noise and the unknown. Then she received the “touch of Benwerren”. A miracle happened – my daughter kicked so many goals it was exciting.
My greatest wish was granted, all thanks to holiday at Benwerren. They’re in our hearts forever.”
I felt warm safe and wanted. I felt my feelings mattered and I felt I could relax and not be a controlling person because I felt wanted.
“I’ve never felt safe before in all my life, until now”
